Two Arrested For Weapons Offences – CROWSTON & HENDRICK

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On November 18, 2017 at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Chippewas of the Thames Police Service and Oneida Nation of the Thames Police Service responded to a weapons call involving a suspicious vehicle on the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

Officers located the vehicle in questions and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop for police and entered a nearby private driveway on Muncey Road.

The officers arrested two male occupants in the vehicle. The investigation revealed that the driver of the motor vehicle had consumed alcohol. A loaded shotgun was also located within the vehicle.

As a result of this police investigation, 19-year-old, William CROWSTON, of no fixed address, has been charged pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)

CC 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

CC 249.1(1) Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer

CC 249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

CC 91(1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

CC 94 Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm

CC 117.01(1) Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis – under 30grams

This accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing on November 19, 2017.

Furthermore, 18-year-old, Damien HENDRICK, of no fixed address, has been charged pursuant to the CC and CDSA with:

CC 91(1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

CC 94 Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm

CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams

This accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on December 15, 2017.
