Friday morning March 13th, 2015, Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to two break and enters which had occurred earlier that morning between 4:30 am and 5:15 am. The breaks ins occurred at the Highland-Drug Mart on Colborne Street and Tapas Bar & Grill on Bridge Street in Port Stanley, Central Elgin.
An undisclosed amount of medication and currency was taken from the Highland-Drug Mart while a variety of food items were taken from the Tapas Bar & Grill.
The police investigation lead by the Elgin County OPP Crime Unit has resulted in the two Port Stanley men being arrested without incident on March 14th, 2015. The following men have been charged:
Michael James MARTIN, age 32 of Port Stanley,
Three counts (3) of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Two counts (2) of Break and Enter a place – commit indictable offence under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose under the Criminal Code of Canada.
MARTIN is being held in custody pending a show causing hearing being held this date, March 15th, 2015.
Denarryl Edwin CRITCHFIELD, age 53 of Port Stanley,
Three counts (3) of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Five counts (5) of Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Other Drugs under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
Possession of Schedule 2 Substance – Cannabis resin – under 1 gram under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
CRITCHFIELD has been released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of April 20th, 2015.
