(HALIBURTON, ON) – Officers of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two local persons involved in numerous break & enters in the Horseshoe Lake area, Township of Minden Hills Ontario. Early Thursday morning January 09, 2014 officers responded to a vehicle in a snowbank on Bethel road which ultimately led officers on the trail of two persons responsible for a series of overnight break & enters as well as others that date back to September 2013, totaling approximately six in all. According to Staff Sergeant Chad Bark, this was a result of good solid police work by the officers at the detachment.
The following males have been arrested;
Shawn FRANCIS age 18 from Minden Hills charged with the following criminal offences:
Break & Enter – 3 counts
Possession of Break In Instruments – 1 count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – 1 count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 – 1 count
Theft of a Motor Vehicle Over $5000 – 1 count
Mischief Over $5000 – 1 count
Mischief Under $5000 – 1 count
Michael TRIPP age 18 from Haliburton charged with the following criminal offences:
Break & Enter – 3 counts
Possession of Break In Instruments – 1 count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – 1 count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 – 1 count
Theft of a Motor Vehicle Over $5000 – 1 count
Mischief Under $5000 – 1 count
Both accused were released on a Promise to Appear and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on March 05, 2014.
