Troy Aaron Paul CHARRON – Child Porn and Weapons Charges

(CHATHAM, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, Chatham-Kent Police Service, the London Police Service and the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) have collaborated in an investigation which has resulted in criminal charges and the arrest of a Chatham man following a month long on-line undercover child pornography investigation.

On December 11, 2013 police executed a search warrant at a Chatham residence. As a result of this investigation two computer systems were seized which contained images of child sexual abuse. Also located during the search was a quantity of prohibited weapons as well unsafely stored firearms. From this ongoing investigation, police obtained a Court issued arrest warrant for the accused.

On December 13, 2013 while returning to Canada through the Windsor Port of Entry, the accused was identified and held by CBSA officers for police. A subsequent search of his vehicle by CBSA officers located a computer and external storage device containing images of child sexual abuse.

The accused Troy Aaron Paul CHARRON, 40 years-old, of Chatham ON has been charged with the following criminal code charges:

two counts of Possession of Child Pornography,

one count of Making Available Child Pornography,

one count of Accessing Child Pornography,

one count of Unsafe Storage of Firearms and;

one count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon: and the following Customs Act charges:

one count Possession of Prohibited Material;

one count of Importing Prohibited Material.

The accused was released at a bail hearing and will make a first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on January 7, 2014.
