Trevor WRIGHT Tracked Down By K9 – Assault Police, Breach, etc

(IGNACE, ON) – On March 26, 2015 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Ignace Detachment officers stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on Highway 17, Ignace Township. The lone, male occupant of the vehicle could not provide officers with a driver’s licence when asked to do so. The driver then put the motor vehicle into drive and struck the officer with the vehicle. The officer was not injured. A Licence Plate check revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Winnipeg, MB on March 22, 2015. Ignace officers pursued the vehicle west on Highway 17 and then onto Osaquan Road, Osaquan Township. The suspect then fled into the bush on foot. The K-9 Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) was activated and located the male driver a short time later in the bush.

The driver, Trevor WRIGHT (34 years old) of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with the following offences: Assault police with weapon contrary to Section 270.01(1) (1) of the Criminal Code, Breach Probation contrary to Section 733.1 of the Criminal Code, Flight from Police contrary to Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code and Possession of stolen property contrary to Section 355 (b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is to appear in court in Sioux Lookout on March 27, 2015 to answer to the charges.
