(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is urging all drivers to understand the rules pertaining to passing school buses and the substantial fines for passing with signals flashing.
On Friday, May 12, 2017 at approximately 4:23 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned parent after they observed a transport truck fail to stop for a school bus when the lights and stop arm was activated at a Norfolk Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
Through the course of investigation it was determined that a school bus was stopped with its overhead red signal-lights flashing and stop sign activated. A young child was exiting the bus when a transport truck that was heading southbound failed to stop. The child did not cross the roadway.
