Transport Truck Driver Fails To Outrun Police

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On July 7, 2015, just before 7:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a complaint of a Volvo tractor trailer driving erratically on Highway 401 westbound near Victoria Road.

Chatham-Kent OPP officers located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle continued on for a distance before coming to a stop for officers. A commercial motor vehicle inspection of the tractor trailer was conducted jointly with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). The driver, Baljinder SINGH, 26 years old from Brampton, was subsequently charged with the following:

· Careless Driving

· Fail To Stop Commercial Motor Vehicle For Examination

· Fail To Surrender Documents

· False Log

The vehicle was placed out of service for 72 hours.
