(CHATHAM, ON) On October 17, 2016, around 10:45 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic hazard on Highway 401 near Kenesserie Road.
Upon further investigation, members observed two wheels and the brake drum had become detached from a westbound tractor trailer. One rim came to rest in the fast lane of Highway 401. The other wheel and brake drum came to rest in the centre median.
As a result, the male driver, Richard PETIT, 64-years-old of Saint-Zotique, Quebec was charged with drive commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle, and fail to properly keep records, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
