Transport Truck Collides With Rail Bridge

(ZORRA TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On March 16, 2016, the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by Ministry of Transportation (MTO) of a single motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and a Canadian National (CN) rail bridge on the 17th Line in Zorra Township.

The collision occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., when the tractor trailer struck the overpass/bridge. The driver stopped and surveyed the damage then left the scene. The vehicle and driver were stopped a short distance away on Hamilton Road in Middlesex County by MTO officers. When attempting to pull the tractor trailer into a parking lot the attached trailer collapsed from the earlier damage.

A heavy tow truck was contacted to assist with the clean-up and removal of the trailer. No injuries were reported. Minor damage sustained to the CN rail bridge. There are several signs posted on the 17th Line advising motorists of the low rail bridge.

The male driver, Yevgen OLSHEVSKYY, 48-years-old of North York was charged with Disobey Sign contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
