(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD, ON.).At approximaetly 5:04 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) along with the Beachville Fire Department responded to a hazardous chemical leak in the rear of the Service Center off the 401 Highway Westbound, which is located between Oxford County Road #6 and Sweaburg Road in Oxford County.
A transport truck carrying Sodium Chlorite leaked approximately 4 gallons of the chemical in the rear servicing area of the Service Centre, resulting in the area being contained.
There was no evacuation required and there are no injuries.
Fortress Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) is in attendance working with the Beachville Fire Department and the Ministry of Health to clean up the spill.
The Ministry of Transportation will be attending to conduct their own investigation.
The Service Centre rear servicing area for the transport trucks is closed due to the chemical spill and will remain closed for a minimum of 3 hours.
