Train Vs Vehicle – One Sent To Hospital

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – On September 3, 2015 at approximately 8:22 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a train on Golf Course Road, Dymond Township.

Through investigation, an eastbound pick-up truck crossed the railway tracks when it was struck by a northbound train. The District of Temiskaming Ambulance Service and the Dymond Fire Department also attended the scene.

The 38-year-old male driver from New Liskeard was transported to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Golf Course Road remains closed. Please do not call the OPP Provincial Communications Centres for road advisory updates or road condition information.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.

The Temiskaming OPP would like to remind motorists that they shall be cautious and familiar with the laws regarding approaching a railway. Speeding, disobeying traffic controls (lights and/or signs), and failing to yield right-of-way accounts for many preventable collisions.

Please drive defensively and safe.
