Train Delayed Three Hours While Searching For Non-Existent Collision Victim

(TOWN OF PERTH, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking information from the community in regard to the ongoing investigation of incident on the Canadian Pacific (CP) rail track running through the Town of Perth.

Police were called to the location by CP rail staff at about 8.30pm on Tuesday 24th May 2016. CP reported that a train was stopped after apparently striking a person.

Lanark County Officers supported by OPP Forensic Identification officers and CP Rail Police were on scene for three hours, searching an extended stretch of the track and adjoining property.

The train was delayed the entire time.

The investigation revealed that person or persons unknown had placed clothing and other articles to appear as if someone was sitting on the tracks.
