(Hawkesbury, ON) On Thursday November 21st, 2013 a vehicle that failed to stop for police during a traffic stop permitted to solve a break in that occurred at the RMS store on Cameron Street in Hawkesbury.
Shortly after 9:30 pm, police tried to stop a red 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe for a traffic infraction. The driver sped away at a high rate of speed rolling through a red traffic light and failing to stop at several marked intersections in the Town of Hawkesbury.
Officers found the suspect vehicle abandoned at the street intersection of Genevieve and Nelson West.
The two occupants fled on foot where a canine track ensued. The passenger of the vehicle was subsequently located and arrested. The driver was not arrested and is sought by police.
Further investigation revealed that the fleeing suspects had broken into the RMS storage facility where framed windows and a framed door were stolen.
