Traffic Stop Results In Cocaine Trafficking Charges

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On January 31, 2016 at 9:57 p.m., an off duty member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was northbound on Highway 400 in McDougall Township when the officer observed a vehicle swerving and braking abruptly in the northbound lanes. Members of the OPP were notified and conducted a traffic stop.

Police investigation and a search of the vehicle with the OPP Canine Unit led to the seizure of cocaine.

The driver, Raymond LINCOLN, 46 years of age from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine – per the CDSA.

Fail to comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).

The driver was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.

The passenger, Harley SAMPSON, 20 years of age from Elliott Lake, was arrested and charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine – per the CDSA.

The passenger will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on February 18, 2016 to answer to her charges.
