TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEVERAL CHARGES AND VEHICLE IMPOUNDMENT

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On October 28, 2014, just after midnight, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on an Audi vehicle on Highway 401 westbound near Victoria Road, for a speeding violation.

Subsequent OPP investigation revealed that the male driver’s licence was suspended, that he was driving in contravention of Class G1 conditions, and also unable to produce a valid insurance card.

As a result, the driver, 28 year old Rohan PYNE, from Scarborough, has been charged with the following:

Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Driving While Under Suspension (x2), contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive On Prohibited Highway, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive At Unlawful Hour, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Driver Fail To Surrender Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Fail To Have Insurance Card, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The female passenger and registered owner of the vehicle, 29 year old Enzalee LYONS, from Stouffville, ON, was charged with Owner Permit Operation Of Motor Vehicle On A Highway – No Insurance, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.

The driver and passenger are scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on December 3, 2014, to answer to the charges.
