Traffic Stop Leads To Firearms Seized – 23 Year Old Arrested – Name Released

(WEST ELGIN, ON) – On the 25th of January 2017 around 12:15 a.m. Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were on patrol in West Elgin in the area of Furnival road and Pioneer line.

A traffic stop was conducted on a 2011 black Chevrolet Impala. Police located a loaded firearm on the male driver. Police further located numerous other types of firearms, weapons, ammunition, and a controlled substance in the vehicle.

Peter Georgiev age 23 of Guelph, ON stands charged with:

Carrying a concealed weapon contrary to section 90 of the Criminal Code

Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code

Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code X 2

Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code X 2

Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm contrary to section 94 of the Criminal Code X 2

Possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana

The accused was arrested without incident and held for a bail hearing on the morning of the 25th of January 2017 in St. Thomas Criminal Court.
