(LAMBTON, ON) – On Friday February 3rd, 2017 at just after 4:00 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, conducted a traffic stop on Discovery Line, Enniskillen Township, ON for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
During the traffic stop, the officer recognized a male party in the vehicle who was wanted by the Lambton OPP. The male party was arrested and a subsequent search of the male and vehicle located $9230 of suspected U.S. counterfeit currency in various denominations.
As a result of the investigation, 28 year old Quentin Abraham SHAWNOO of Petrolia, ON, 48 year old Harvey Wesley YOUNG of Petrolia, ON and 42 year old Samuel Edward GEORGE of Forest, ON were all charged with:
Possessing Counterfeit Money
Harvey YOUNG and Samuel GEORGE were released from custody and will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday March 27th, 2017 while Quentin SHAWNOO was held for a bail hearing on Saturday February 4th, 2017.
OPP are reminding the public making or passing counterfeit notes is a criminal offence. Checking bank notes protects everyone and if you suspect that a note is counterfeit, contact and report it to your local police service.
