Traffic Enforcement

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in both the driver and passenger facing numerous charges.

On January 20, 2014 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at 118km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 35 and subsequently stopped the vehicle. Investigation indicated that the driver, Soud SIDDIQI, 50 years of age, of Ajax, was suspended from driving and that he was failing to comply with probation under the Provincial Offences Act.

Mr. SIDDIQI was charged with speeding, driving while suspended and failing to comply with probation. The accused will appear in court in Lindsay, on March 11, 2014.

Further investigation indicated that the passenger, Uzma SIDDIQI, 23 years of age, of Ajax, was the owner of the car and had knowingly allowed the vehicle to be driven by an unlicensed driver and without insurance. As a result, she was charged with those offences.

Uzma SIDDIQI will appear in court, in Lindsay, on March 11, 2014.
