(Ottawa, ON) –The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and a sedan during the morning commute.
At approximately 7:55 am, a motor vehicle collision occurred involving a tractor trailer and a sedan on Highway 417 westbound near the Moodie Drive overpass. It is yet to be determined if the driver of the tractor trailer was in fact ejected from the vehicle. The cab of tractor trailer caught fire.
The two drivers were transported to Ottawa area hospitals. The 64 year old tractor trailer driver and the 56 year old driver of the sedan sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Lane reductions were put in place on Highway 417 westbound near the Moodie Drive overpass and Highway 416 onramp to Highway 417 westbound was closed.
The OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
All lanes of the highway are anticipated to be re-opened prior to the afternoon commute.
