(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) Perth County OPP officers were called to a two vehicle crash on Hwy. 8 between road 140 and road 145 at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Investigation indicates that a west bound SUV crossed over into the east bound lane of Hwy. 8 in front of an east bound tractor trailer. The vehicles collided destroying the SUV and causing the tractor trailer to enter the south ditch. The truck jack knifed but remained upright in a farmer’s field.
The SUV driver was transported to Stratford General Hospital with serious injuries. The transport driver was uninjured.
The highway was re-opened at 4:36 p.m. Salvage operations will continue throughout the evening requiring sporadic lane closures at the crash location. The truck trailer usually carries cement but was empty at the time of the crash.
The Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate.
