(EAST HAWKESBURY TOWNSHIP, ON) On November 29, 2016 at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Hawkesbury detachment, paramedics and the Hawkesbury Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 417 westbound lanes in East Hawkesbury Township.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are attending the scene to assist with the investigation. This collision involved three (3) tractor trailer units that became fully engulfed in fire and has one confirmed fatality.
Highway 417 Westbound is closed at County Road 14 and detours will be in effect for several hours.
The investigation is in the preliminary stages and an update will be issued when accurate and confirmed information becomes available.
