Tractor Trailer Collision

(SARNIA, ON)- On May 30, 2016 at approximately 11:00 p.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the west bound lanes of the 402 Highway west of Indian Road, Sarnia, Ontario to investigate a collision.

Investigation revealed that several transport trucks had been stopped on the west bound 402 Highway in attempt to cross the Bluewater Bridge. At this time a 2007 Volvo transport truck being operated by Talwinder SINGH, male, 24 years-of-age of Brampton, Ontario, was also west bound on the 402 Highway. Mr. SINGH failed to stop for the stopped traffic and struck another transport truck causing a series of collisions involving two other transport trucks.

As a result of the collision, the operator of the Volvo transport truck was air lifted by ambulance to hospital in order to be treated for serious injuries. Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigative Team attended the scene to investigate. There was no concern as to dangerous goods and or spills. As a result of the collision the 402 highway was closed between Modeland Road and Christina Street for approximately 10 hours while the collision scene was investigated and debris removed. Traffic was directed from the 402 Highway through Emergency Detour Routing. As of 9:00 a.m. the following morning, the 402 Highway was re- opened.

The investigation is continuing. Charges are anticipated.
