Tractor Catches Fire After Snapping Hydro Pole – Operator Survives

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – On Saturday April 28, 2012 at 7:15 p.m. Huron OPP officers and the Lucknow Fire Department responded to a collision involving a farm tractor and a hydro pole. The collision occurred on private property at Lucknow Line near Zion Road. The operator of a 2003 Fentz tractor was pulling a cultivator and roller when the tractor collided with a hydro pole that was located in the field. The pole snapped causing high voltage lines to tumble onto the tractor which in turn caused the tractor to catch on fire.

An electrician that was driving by was able to provide instructions to the operator which assisted the male. The operator jumped from the burning tractor and safely avoided being electrocuted. The tractor was destroyed by fire and the downed hydro wires caused power interruptions for several hours. No injuries were reported. LP12112114
