(COCHRANE, ON) – The annual Cochrane Winter Carnival is upon us. With it brings popular annual events such as the Torchlight Parade. The Parade will be held on Thursday, February 6th, 2014 and will commence at dusk, usually between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm. Starting locations will be at the intersection of 14th avenue and 5th street (old Ferguson School location) and at the Fire Hall located at 5th street and 1st avenue.
Members from the Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Cochrane Fire Department would like to remind torchlight participants that safety is of extreme importance. Let’s all ensure that while walking along 5th street, everyone remains behind the escort vehicle and handles their torch with care. Once at the bonfire on the Commando Lake peninsula, all torch carriers will be required to hand off their torch to the Cochrane firefighters in order to have them disposed of safely.
