(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On October 17, 2015 at approximately 2:50 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) investigated the driver of a 2000 Ford pick-up truck that entered into a RIDE spot check on the Second Line near Side Road 14 in Centre Wellington Township.
While speaking with the driver police detected the odour of alcohol on his breath and a
Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
47-year-old Timothy SWEENEY of Kitchener has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 13, 2015 to answer to the charge.
