(GUELPH/ERAMOSA TWP, ON) – On Friday November 23, 2012 at approximately 8:50pm County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on County Road 124 near Kossuth Road in Guelph/Eramosa Twp. At this time and location officers investigated the driver of a 2004 Toyota CTR that came upon the checkpoint. Police spoke to the male driver and detected the strong odour of freshly burnt marihuana. The driver turned over a small amount of marihuana to police. A field sobriety test was conducted which resulted in the male driver being taken into custody.
Timothy Fisher aged 45 of Guelph has been charged with Possession of Marihuana Under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle – by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on January 8, 2013 to answer to the charges.
