Several well known drug dealers and their thieving addict customers have taken to FaceBook to defend the Wingham police (Timmy and the Timbits) in their current state. Why? Wingham is widely known as a haven for criminals as the Wingham police spend very little time on the square mile, and are spotted constantly outside Wingham. Rumors have been around for decades of the unaccountable Wingham police having deals with criminals and having refused service to many.
At tonight’s meeting Yolanda Ritsema-Teeninga implied that the Wingham police do foot patrols on Josephine Street, just like chief poole stated at police service board meeting. Unless crossing the street to check the mail is considered a foot patrol this claim is BS.
Amalgamation of the Wingham Police and the OPP seems likely. This means our officers will have access to massive OPP resources for search and rescue, backup for officers, appropriate training, opportunities for advancement, etc. etc. To top things off we will be saving money in the long run and our officers will be safer.
