(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Saturday, December 14 2013, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) together with our policing partners, Thunder Bay Police Service, Anishinabek Police Service, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Service participated in the 2nd Annual Stuff A Cruiser event.
Officers were located outside the Real Canadian Superstore, Safeway on Arthur Street, Metro Stores on Arthur Street and River Street.
The officers and many volunteers from the Regional Food Distribution Association (RFDA) collected 4227 kg (9300 lbs) of non-perishable food items and over $2700.00 in cash donations.
All food items and cash donations collected were turned over to the RFDA, to assist with the goal that everyone in our community has food on their table over the festive season. The quantity of food items collected will help ensure a food bank supply well into the winter months.
All of the Police Services would like to thank all of the volunteers from the RFDA, Real Canadian Superstore, Safeway and Metro stores for their support. We also want to thank all of the community members who donated and made this event such a huge success. Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.
Have a safe and happy holiday.
