Three vehicle collision

On September 24, 2014 at 2:50 p.m, the Guelph Police went to Woodlawn Road and Imperial Road for a collision. It is alleged that a BMW sedan driven by a 40-year-old Windsor male was travelling eastbound on Woodlawn while a Ford truck driven by a 21-year-old Fergus male was travelling westbound on Woodlawn, both approaching Imperial. The Ford turned left and the BMW entered the intersection against the amber light. The vehicles collided within the intersection. The Ford was spun 180 degrees by the force of the impact. The BMW sedan was redirected by the impact, and struck another Ford truck – which was stopped in the northbound lane of Imperial Road.

Both the Ford and BMW were destroyed as a result of the initial collision. The second Ford also sustained significant damage.

The driver of the initial Ford was taken to Guelph General Hospital for medical assessment, but is believed to have sustained only minor injury.

The force of the collision was significant. The deployment of airbags, in conjunction with seatbelt use, is believed to have prevented more serious injury.
