(NORTH BAY, ON) – The North Bay Ontario Police (OPP) continues to be vigilant in Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) efforts throughout the year.
On June 17, 2015, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Powassan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle.
The vehicle was located on Green Bay Road, Nipissing Township. Upon further investigation, the driver, Ivett SEDORE, age 40 of Callander, Ontario, was arrested and charged with Care or Control With More Than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on June 30, 2015.
On June 19, 2015, at approximately 9:50 p.m., members of the North Bay Detachment (OPP) were notified of a report of an eastbound vehicle on Highway 17, Municipality of East Ferris, which was crossing the centre line, hitting the shoulder and braking for no apparent reason.
The vehicle drove along a number of roads in the Municipality of East Ferris and then drove back onto Highway 17 westbound, going through the red light in the construction zone.
The vehicle was stopped by police on Highway 17 and, as a result of an investigation, Jean-Claude LAVIGNE, age 57 of Mattawa, Ontario, was charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b), Driving While Ability Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a), Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 249(1)(a), Flight While Pursued by Police Officer, contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act, Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a), Red Light Fail to Stop, contrary to section 144(18), Drive Motor Vehicle No Licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act and Owner Operate Vehicle No Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The accused was released from custody and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 10, 2015.
On June 23, 2015, at approximately 3:45 a.m., a Bonfield resident was awakened by someone on his property. A male approached the resident and asked them to call an ambulance, as he had been involved in a vehicle crash.
North Bay and District Ambulance Service and North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended scene.
Upon further investigation by North Bay OPP, the driver of the vehicle, Matthew DOUGLAS, 23 years, from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, was charged with Driving Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) and Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent, contrary to section 335(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The driver of the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by North Bay and District Ambulance Service.
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on June 30, 2015.
