Three Impaired Charges In Two Days

(NORTH BAY, ON) – The North Bay Ontario Police (OPP) continues to be vigilant in Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) efforts throughout the year.

On July 26, 2015, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting RIDE on Valois Drive, Mattawa. Police checked the status of an approaching driver. Further investigation resulted in a charge. James PLATT, age 42, of Ottawa, has been charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on August 11, 2015.

On July 26, 2015, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a North Bay OPP officer was westbound on Highway 17, Bonfield Twp., when she noticed an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) being driven on the highway in front of her. The ATV was stopped and, upon further investigation, the driver was charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b), Driving While Ability Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused, Dawson CATALANO, age 21, Bonfield Township, is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on August 4, 2015.

On July 27, 2015, at approximately 11:15 p.m., members of the North Bay Detachment (OPP) were notified of a report of an eastbound vehicle on Highway 17, City of North Bay, which was crossing the centre line. The vehicle was located and stopped by police and, as a result of an investigation, Dwayne BEAUVAIS, age 33, Sturgeon Falls, was charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b), and Driving While Ability Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from custody and is required to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on August 11, 2015.
