Three Charged With Snowmobile Violations

(ELLIOT LAKE ON) – On January 24, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on snowmobile patrol duties on the EL 1, EL 2, and F trails in the Elliot Lake area.

Police, checked thirty Motorized Snow Vehicles (MSV), four Off Road Vehicles (ORV) and as a result, three MSV drivers were charged:

At 1:20 p.m., Colin BOILARD, 25 years of age, from Elliot Lake was charged and issued a Provincial Offence Noticed for: Fail to Display Evidence Permit, contrary to section 2(8) of the Motorized Snow Vehicles of Act.

At 1:50 p.m., Garth MCCOMB, 22 years of age, from Elliot Lake was charged and issued a Provincial Offence Noticed for: Fail to Notify Change of Ownership, contrary to section 3(3) of the Motorized Snow Vehicles of Act.

At 3:00 p.m., Dustin GRANT, 27 years of age, from Elliot Lake was charged and issued a Provincial Offence Noticed for: Fail to Display Evidence Permit, contrary to section 2(8) of the Motorized Snow Vehicles of Act.

The OPP and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) would like to remind snowmobilers to focus on their own personal safety and well-being of others. The motoring public is also being reminded to watch for snowmobiles along roads or those that cross roads at snowmobile trails.
