(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Two adults, and one youth, have been arrested in connection to a number of break, enter, and theft incidents, which occurred in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, Ontario, on July 30, 2016.
On July 30, 2016, between approximately 2:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a property on Mayfair Road, where suspects forced their way into a drive-shed, and stole a Kawasaki side-by-side all-terrain vehicle (ATV). Two additional properties on Gentleman Drive and Century Drive were broken into, but nothing was taken.
Then, just before 6:00 a.m., police were called to a Springfield Road address, regarding a break and enter incident where suspects were stealing a Pontiac car. The suspects and car were gone upon officers’ arrival, and a search was conducted with the assistance of a police dog. Later that morning, two of the suspects were located and arrested, and the third suspect was apprehended just after noon.
The Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) assisted with the investigation. The stolen ATV and car were recovered.
As a result of the police investigation, a 16-year-old male from Southwest Middlesex, Ontario, (who cannot be identified, as per provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)), an 18-year-old male, Roland STURGEON, from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, and a 23-year-old male, Darryl STURGEON, from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, and have each been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada X4
Break, enter a place, commit indictable offence X3
Break, enter a place – with intent to commit an indictable offence X2
The 23-year-old male was further charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
Mischief under $5000
Driving while disqualified – court order
Fail to comply with probation order
He has since been released from custody, as was the young person. The 18-year-old remains in custody.
The accused persons are scheduled to answer their respective charges in the London, Ontario, courts.
