(MALLORYTOWN,ON) – On the 14th of January 2016, at around 10:45 p.m. an officer with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Leeds County was conducting a traffic stop on Highway 401 near Mallorytown. The officer stopped the car for a traffic violation, the car came to a stop in the driving lane of HWY 401 and three male occupants fled on foot.
An OPP Canine Unit and member and members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the area to assist in locating the occupants.
After a very lengthy search one male suspect was arrested by police. At around 5:25 a.m. on the 15th of January 2016, Leeds County OPP officers responded to a call from the public regarding 2 males hitch hiking on HWY 401 east of Mallorytown. Officers attended and arrested 2 other males in connection with the traffic stop.
A small amount of a drugs and a prohibited weapon were seized by officers.
Conrad ARNOLD, 18, Shayam MOSTAGHIM, 20 and Brenden VERNON, 19, all of Hamilton ON, have been charged with Obstruct Peace Officer.
All three males have been release from custody on a Promise to Appear and Officer-In-Charge Undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville February 12, 2016.
The incident continues to be investigated at this time.
