(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment has made an arrest in the Omemee pharmacy robbery from January 5, 2016.
Through an investigation led by the City of Kawartha Lakes Crime Unit and assisted last night by members of the OPP’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU), Drug Enforcement Unit, Canine Unit, Emergency Response Unit (ERT) and the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service 28 year old Thomas HAYES of Lindsay was arrested shortly before midnight and charged with the following offences:
Robbery with Weapon contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Disguise with Intent contrary to section 351(2) of the CCC
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
