(EMBRUN, ON) – Since the beginning of March 2016, the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated several incidents after responding to 1,359 occurrences. Among those occurrences were the following; domestic disputes, assaults, sexual assault, child luring, threats, mischiefs, bail violations, frauds, motor vehicle collision, and drug/alcohol related occurrences.
As result of those occurrences, 33 males and 11 females were charged for a total of 92 various offences.
Domestic Disputes
Russell County OPP Officers investigated 28 domestic disputes during the past month.
Alcohol related incident
Within the last month and half, Russell County OPP arrested and charged one female in relation to impaired driving. Liette Beauchesne, aged 57 of Nation will attend the L’Orignal court for her first appearance in April 2016.
On the 16th of April, Police were conducting a R.I.D.E program at the intersection of Laurier Street and Caron Street in the City of Rockland. A vehicle was proceeding through the intersection and a male passenger started cursing and yelling at the officers. The male existed and appeared to want to confront the officers. The male was arrested for prevent the breach of the peace and causing a disturbance.
Driving related offences
One female was charged for stunt driving after driving at a speed of 146Km/h in a posted 90km/h zone on County Road 17 near Rockland. Her driver licence was suspended and her mini cooper was impounded.

Fraud
OPP Officers in Russell County investigated several frauds and scams during the past month. Most frauds were in the form of phone calls where scammers were trying to obtain credit card numbers, banking information or other personal information. Most people recognized these calls as frauds calls and hung up the phone.
The OPP are warning people to be vigilant and never provide banking, credit card or personal information to people over the phone. If you have been a victim please report the incident to the OPP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC). You will help them gather evidence and identify new trends.
