(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 686 calls for service from Sunday, November 29th to Saturday, December 19th. Among those occurrences were; false 9-1-1 calls, domestic disputes, threat, theft, fraud, bail violation, drug offences and four impaired drivers.
As a result of those occurrences, three females and 13 males were charged with various offences.
Domestic Disputes
Russell County OPP officers investigated 17 domestic disputes during the past weeks. Three males were charged with three counts of spousal assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of domestic mischief, two counts of criminal harassment and five counts of uttering threats.
Impaired Driver
Russell County OPP conducted 48 R.I.D.E programs; Chad Mentus, age 19 of Embrun; Alexis Martineau, age 37 of Ottawa; Robert Hudon, age 57 of Rockland; and Robert Wayne Sauve age 34 of Rockland, were arrested on separate incidents and charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80mgs of alcohol and/or care or control. They were released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal in January 2016.
At approximately 12:20pm, on Friday December 18, 2015 Russell County officers were dispatched to a road-rage incident in Rockland. Provincial Constable Bernard Montpetit arrested the male driver after failing the roadside alcohol screening test. Following his breath tests at the detachment, David Cormack, aged 39 of Rockland, was charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80mgs of alcohol, dangerous operation of motor vehicle and two count of fail to comply with his undertaking. He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal, ON in January 13th, 2016.
Traffic violation
On December 11th, Provincial Constable Sean Byrne was conducting radar enforcement on South Russell Road. He arrested and charged a male, aged 58 of Ottawa, for racing at a speed of 125km/h in the posted 50km/h school zone. His vehicle was impounded and his driver licences was suspended.
