This Week In Russell County

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 234 calls for service from Sunday November 6th to Saturday November 12st.  Among these occurrences, OPP responded to nine domestic disputes, three threat offences, one criminal harassment and one impaired related occurrence. As a result of those occurrences, five males and three females were charged with various offences. 

Domestic Disputes

On November 10th, Provincial Constable Gabriel Iordache was called to investigate a domestic incident/possible breach of an undertaking. As a result of the investigation a 17 years old female from St-Isidore was charged with public mischief. This accused female will not be named pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Impaired Driver

At approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2016, OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 417 westbound. Provincial Constable Crystal Leblanc attended the scene and her investigation revealed that the male driver was intoxicated. Alex Plouffe, aged 25 of Navan was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs of alcohol. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days. He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on December 7th.

Traffic violation

On November 9th, Provincial Constable Melissa Bouchard and Marc Leblanc were conducting mobile radar enforcement on County Road 17. They arrested and charged Christian Prevost Cote, aged 28 of Alfred for speeding and drive while under suspension. He was served with a part III notice to appear on December 1st in the Provincial court in l’Orignal.
