(EMBRUN, ON) – In the month of January 2017, the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 911 occurrences. Among those occurrences were the following; domestic disputes, motor vehicle collision, armed robbery, assault with a weapon, threats, mischief, bail violation, frauds, and drug and alcohol related occurrences.
As result of those occurrences, 17 males and 4 females were charged with a total of 51 various offences.
Domestic Disputes
Russell County OPP officers investigated 43 domestic disputes during the past month.
On January 27th, police investigated a collision in the Tim Horton’s parking lot in Embrun. The domestic related investigation revealed that the male driver had intentionally hit his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle. The 19 year old male was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Harassment, Forcible Confinement and Fail to Comply with his Probation order. Male was held for bail court and the names are not published for the victim’s safety.
Alcohol related incident
Within the last month, Russell County OPP arrested and charged five (5) males and four (4) females in relation to impaired driving. Andrew Westgarth, aged 34 of Rockland, Melissa Vannoppen, aged 35 of North Dundas, Kenneth Lacroix, aged 26 of Plantagenet, Vanessa Ward, aged 21 of Coteau du Lac, QC will attend Provincial Court of Justice in L’Orignal ON for their first appearance in February 2017.
The drivers charged with excess blood alcohol were subject to an automatic 90 day driver’s license suspension and their vehicles were impounded for 7 days.

Theft
On the morning of Friday, January 27th, a Limoges man reported his commercial vehicle stolen from his driveway located on Limoges Road in Nation Township. The theft occurred between 3:00 p.m on January 26 and 10:00 a.m on January 27th.
Stolen was an orange/red/beige 1997 Ford F800 with a boom on it with a man carrier bearing Ontario Licence plate AB40049. The vehicle was locked.

Armed Robbery
Russell County OPP are still actively seeking help to identify the male suspect in relation to the Armed Robbery that occurred on January 25th at the Caisse Populaire Trillium in Hammond.

150-160 lbs
Facial hair (face partially concealed)
Wearing prescription glasses
Wearing dark colored clothing (coat
