(POINT EDWARD, ON) – During the weekend of July 24, 2015 unknown thieves gained access to a docked freighter located in the area of Exmouth Street and the Saint Clair River in the Village of Point Edward.
Members on the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating this incident. The OPP investigation has revealed that unknown suspects forcibly entered a fenced area in order to gain access to the freighter. Thieves proceeded to remove approximately 150 feet of heavy gauged copper wire used to provide electricity from the shore to the freighter and approximately 500 feet of cable used to operate welding machines that were located on board the freighter.
Members of the OPP are currently investigating this incident and are seeking community involvement and assistance in this matter.
