Thief Caught In The Act

(SOUTH HURON, ON) On August 10, 2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Huron OPP officers observed a male traveling on a bicycle on London Road, south of Exeter. The male was spoken to and the officers took note of the bicycle that he was riding.

Approximately 20 minutes later that same bicycle was report stolen to the Huron OPP. Officers received a description of the stolen bicycle and revealed that it matched the description of the one they just stopped. Officers returned to the location where the cyclist was observed and spoke to the male. Investigation revealed that the bicycle matched the description and was stolen from an address on Wellington Street in Exeter.

As a result of the investigation, a 32 year old male from London was charged with one count of Theft Under $ 5000. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Exeter on October 27, 2011 to answer to his charges.

The bicycle was returned to its owner.
