Thefts of purses from grocery carts – update

On December 6, 2013 at 3:18 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to the Speedvale Plaza after receiving a call from the grocery store advising that their loss prevention officer had arrested a male for shoplifting and stealing a purse. Police investigation determined that this was the same male responsible for four other purse thefts from incidents reported over the last few weeks.
Police were able to recover two of the stolen purses which will be returned to their owners. The total value of the thefts relating to these incidents is approximately $ 2,000 ($1,100 in cash). No bank cards or credit cards appear to have been compromised.

Christopher GALLO, 53 years of Guelph has been charged with six counts theft under $5,000. He will appear in court on January 14, 2014.
