Thefts From Construction Sites

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On February 4, 2015 at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of two separate theft occurrences which occurred on properties under construction on Aberdeen Street and McQueen Street in Fergus, Centre Wellington Township.

Investigation revealed that sometime between February 3, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. and February 4, 2015 at 7:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered secured trailers at both locations and stole various power and hand tools as well as construction equipment with approximate values of $5000 and $9000.

The OPP is asking residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious people or vehicles that may be sitting in neighbours driveways when they are not home or vehicles that are travelling slowly up and down roads. The public should try to get descriptions, licence plate numbers and direction of travel and report this immediately to their local police service. It is important for this information to get to police when suspects may still be in the area.
