Theft Of Fuel

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment is investigating the theft of fuel from a Troyer Road, South Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Thursday, April 9, 2015 at approximately 3:00 a.m., police were contacted by a concerned resident after unknowns attended the property in the early morning hours on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, and removed fuel from two vehicles.

The Norfolk County OPP is urging all vehicle owners to practice fuel theft prevention and to report any suspicious activity. Police would like to provide some tips that may assist in the prevention of fuel thefts.

Consider installing a locking gas cap.

Avoid parking in dark, isolated areas (especially for extended periods).

At home, park in a locked garage where possible. If you don’t have a garage, park as close as possible to the house and avoid parking on the street.

Don’t hesitate to call police if you witness suspicious activity in an area where fuel is stored or around parked vehicles. Be a good witness! If possible record the license plate number and/or vehicle and suspect descriptions.

Do not get physically involved. Call your police service!
