Theft Of Construction Equipment – Arrests Made

(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and member of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP Street Crimes unit have made an arrest in the thefts of construction equipment in November in Collingwood.

The incident involved the theft of two backhoes, stolen sometime overnight, from the 20th to the 21st of November, from a construction site on Hume Street. The culprits then drove the machinery to the school yard of the Admiral Collingwood Elementary School and caused extensive mischief to the property using the backhoes.

Police located the abandoned backhoes, one near the school and the second in a field near a walking trail just north of Poplar Sideroad.

The investigation has now resulted in the arrest of a male and the pending arrest of a second male responsible for this incident. Further details will be released when it becomes available.
