Theft of 110 Kilogram Brass Propeller

On August 31, 2014 the Owen Sound Police Service was contacted by staff from the Owen Sound Marine-Rail Museum advising of the theft of a large propeller. The brass propeller that had been on display at the north end of the property went missing sometime between Wednesday August 27th and Saturday August 30th. The museum is located at 1165 1st Avenue West in the City.

The propeller is approximately 1 metre in diameter and the weight is estimated between 110-135 kilograms. The propeller is stamped with the name William Kennedy and Sons. The historic value of the propeller is priceless however the scrap value for the propeller is estimated between one thousand to fifteen hundred dollars.

Scrape marks on the pavement suggest the propeller was dragged towards the roadway.

Anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to contact Owen Sound Police Service or Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce.
