The Real Police Remind Drivers To Adjust Driving Habits In Light Of Quickly Changing Road Conditions

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – In light of Environment Canada’s warning for snow squalls and significant snowfall accumulation expected for today, motorists should prepare for the possibility of quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remind motorists to always adjust their driving to the current road and weather conditions. Other reminders:

Driving too fast for road conditions is the number one cause of winter collisions.

Stay in control of your vehicle at all times. Avoid sudden braking, accelerating or steering.

Allow extra time to travel to and from destinations.

Leave extra distance between vehicles.

Use your full set of headlights; daylight running lights are not as bright and do not engage your rear taillights making it difficult for drivers behind you to see your vehicle.

Delay any unnecessary travel.

Remember – poor road/weather conditions don’t cause accidents – poor driving habits do!
