Teenage Driver Performs Stunt In Front of Marked Cruiser – Vehicle Impounded

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Monday February 08, 2011, around 3 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer was stopped in a fully marked OPP vehicle in a busy customer parking-lot along Quebec St. which is located behind the main street businesses.

The officer observed a small car driving in an eastbound direction on Quebec St. with two young occupants. The front wheel drive car suddenly rotated counter clockwise and slid sideways on Quebec St. with the passenger side leading (resulting from parking brake application). The vehicle subsequently fish tailed into the parking lot coming to a stop directly in front of the OPP cruiser.

The officers spoke with the17 year old male driver from the Municipality of West Perth who gave no explanation for his manner of driving. The driver was served a summons to appear in Stratford Court on March 10, 2011 to answer to the charge of “performing a stunt”. He also had his drivers licence seized for seven days and his car was impounded for a week.
