Suspended Drunk Driver Runs Stop Sign

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 9, 2016 at approximately 11:37 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

While speaking with the driver, police determined that he had been drinking. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

26-year-old Gareth HEATH has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, Adult Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop and Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 2, 2016 to answer to the charges.
