(POWASSAN, ON) – On March 11, 2016, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a member of the Powassan Ontario Provincial Police was on general patrol when he noticed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was stopped on Highway 11, South Himsworth Township, and, upon further investigation, the driver, Jonathan STRIPAY, 30, Powassan, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired- Motor Vehicle (Alcohol), as per section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Driving with More Than 80 Mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, as per section 253(1)(b)CC
Driving while Disqualified – Court Order, as per section 259(4)CC
Race a Motor Vehicle, as per section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Driving While Under Suspension, as per section 53(1) HTA
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on April 5, 2016.
